Dual Language Immersion -- Mandarin

Bella Vista Elementary is proud to offer a Dual Immersion Mandarin Academy for students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Our program is built on the core objectives of Bilingualism and Biliteracy, Cross-Cultural Understanding and High Academic Achievement.

Students enrolled in the DIA - Mandarin Program learn simplified Chinese. Our students learn to read, write, and speak in both English and Mandarin, setting them on a path for long-term academic and personal success. Our program uses a 50/50 model, meaning 50% of the instructional day is in Mandarin and 50% of the instructional day is in English.

Our program begins in Kindergarten because research shows that the earlier a child is introduced to a second language, the greater the likelihood they will become truly proficient. Starting Mandarin in kindergarten gives students the opportunity to develop deep, lasting language skills.

By the time students reach high school, they will have already acquired a second (or even third) language, making them eligible to take Advanced Placement (AP) Mandarin, earn college credit, and stand out on college and scholarship applications.

At Bella Vista Elementary, we believe that multilingualism and cultural understanding are essential for success in today’s global world. Our Dual Immersion Mandarin Academy provides students with the tools, confidence, and knowledge they need to become globally competent, bilingual leaders of tomorrow.
